The Conservatory was established in 1964 by Director Emeritus Felix Molzer as a not-for-profit community school of music, dedicated to excellence in music education and the promotion of music as an art form. The purpose and principles that motivated the creation of the Conservatory still form the foundation of our mission:
- TO TEACH
- TO GROW
Our teacher/artists all hold college degrees in music. We provide basic instruction for the younger child, and instrumental, vocal and theoretical subjects for teens and adults.
To provide for the personal and cultural growth of students that will gradually lead to musical understanding backed by technical competency.
- TO LEAD
- TO EXPERIENCE
To lead students into the mainstream of musical literature and acquaint them with significant styles and forms, past and present, through lectures, concerts, and other related special programs.
To allow students, especially the teenage student, to experience music not only as entertainment or fad, but as art capable of expressing the spirit of an age, a culture, a nation, or an individual.
