Who we are

The Monmouth Conservatory of Music (MCM) was established in 1964 by Felix Molzer as a non-profit community school of the arts dedicated to enriching lives through music. MCM serves more than 400 students of all ages, offering a broad range of musical instruction in most instruments, and performance opportunities including student recitals, chorus, and orchestra and chamber ensembles. MCM is a full member of the National Guild of Community Schools of the Arts and a qualified organization of the New Jersey Cultural Trust.

The Monmouth Conservatory is a tax-exempt organization under section 501(C)3 of the Internal Revenue Code, and a registered Charitable Organization in the State of New Jersey. MCM is chartered by the state of New Jersey and governed by a Board of Trustees. Conservatory faculty members serve under an appointed Executive Director.

The Director

vkVladislav Kovalsky was born and educated in the Soviet Union, where he became a world class concert pianist before moving to the U.S. in 1980. He performs regularly and gives master classes at music festivals both here and abroad. Mr. Kovalsky believes that musical studies benefit everyone and promote success in all stages of life. He and his wife Irina, an accomplished violinist, are both teachers at the Conservatory. Mr. Kovalsky has been Executive Director of the Monmouth Conservatory since 1998. He is now Executive and Artistic Director of the Conservatory.

Our Faculty

Teachers at the Monmouth Conservatory are music professionals who hold at least a Bachelor’s degree in Music, and in many cases advanced degrees. They are experienced teachers with demonstrated ability to teach and motivate their students. Conservatory faculty members come from local communities and other areas of the state, as well as New York City. In addition to teaching, faculty members often contribute to the Conservatory’s educational mission by performing in Faculty Recitals and assisting their students at Student Recitals.
